MANILA — Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is already retired, but he still holds the title as the fastest man on Earth with his 100-meter dash time of 9.58 seconds set in the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin still unbeaten.

American trackster Christian Coleman challenged the record at the World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar Saturday but could only clock 9.76 seconds, though it was good enough to win the race against defending champion Justin Gatlin’s and Canadian Andre de Grasse’s similar under-10 seconds speed.

Century dashes winners get more than gold or silver medals as prize. They also get cash and lucrative endorsement contracts. Other running races give consolation prizes like diapers.

The baby napkin prize was dangled during a baby-crawling race recently held in Naga City, Camarines Sur. The cute competition saw 13 six- to eight-month-old babies crawl toward their moms waiting about 10 feet away from the other end of a carpet. Some babies cried but others were game, with the winning baby girl giving joy to her proud mother who expectedly saved a few bucks with the free diapers.

Baby-crawling races may not be an Olympic event for now. But the fastest cutie crawler in Naga City could be a potential champion racer in the future with more dash-for-diaper contests that she can win.
