Probers peg Star City damage at P15-M

Amid the tragic fire that hit Star City amusement park early Wednesday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection in the National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) has formed an investigating team to look into the incident.

Pasay Fire Marshal Superintendent Paul Pili said the investigating team visited Star City yesterday for inspection as around 90 percent of the popular theme park was razed by fire.

While the management pegged the damage at P1 billion, the BFP, however, said its estimate is only at P15 million pending further investigation.

Ed de Leon, spokesperson of Star City owner Star Parks Corporation, said 25 rides and attractions in its covered area were damaged by the fire. These include Gabi ng Lagim, Dungeon of Terror, Bump Car Smash and Snow World.

Firefighters and a firetruck spent the whole night monitoring the area for sparks and to prevent the entry of looters.

Atty. Rudolph Jularbal, spokesperson for the Elizalde Group of Companies said the fire spared Aliw Theater.
