Poll exec slams Mocha appointment

Prompted by the return of former Assistant Communications Secretary Mocha Uson to government service, poll commissioner Rowena Guanzon said she is eyeing the inclusion of nominees of losing party-list groups in the one-year appointment ban.

Guanzon turned to Twitter on Thursday, saying she will bring her proposal to the Senate.

“I am appearing in the Committee of Sen. Imee (Marcos). I will propose the ban should cover party-list nominees,” Guanzon tweeted.

She also highlighted that losing party-list nominees should not be “favored” and be treated like other candidates covered by the ban.

Uson was recently appointed deputy administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) after her party list group AA-Kasosyo’s loss in the May 2019 midterm elections.
