PhilHealth scam informants arrested

The owners of WellMed Dialysis Center, embroiled in a multibillion scam. are out on bail.

Two whistleblowers of the multibillion Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) scam are locked up in a Quezon City jail for an alleged case of falsification of public documents.

Lawyer Harry Roque is still trying to come up with the P140,000 bail for the temporary liberty of Leizel Aileen De Leon and Edwin Roberto, who were ordered arrested Thursday night by a Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court because of an estafa case.

The duo exposed the anomalies of WellMed Dialysis Center, which allegedly deprived Philhealth of around P154 billion because of fraudulent claims.

“This is a travesty of justice and a machination of those people who wanted them silenced,” said Roque, adding that while his clients are behind bars, the owners of WellMed are out on bail.
