Briefs: SM scores high in investor poll
SM Investments Corporation vice president for Planning and Communications Paul Arcenas receives the Institutional Investor Corporate Awards from Alpha Southeast Asia CEO/Publisher Siddiq Bazarwala during the awards ceremony held in Singapore recently.
SM Investments Corporation (SM) won four awards in the recent 9th Annual Institutional Investor Awards for Corporates by Alpha Southeast Asia magazine.
SM was cited among the Top 3 corporates in the following main categories: Most Organized in Investor Relations, Strongest Adherence to Corporate Governance and Most Consistent Dividend Policy. It also garnered the Best Annual Report in the Philippines for its 2018 Annual Report.
Alpha Southeast Asia’s corporate-institutional investor poll is a perceptions-based poll in performance in financial management, adherence to corporate governance, integrated reporting/corporate social responsibility and investor relations.
Alpha Southeast Asia collected votes from more than 494 investors and analysts across the region as well as US & Europe. The participants included fund managers with investment interests in Southeast Asia, large institutional investors, insurance companies, pension funds, funds of hedge funds, private banks, equity and fixed income brokers as well as buy and sell-side analysts.
Established in 2007, Alpha Southeast Asia is an institutional investment magazine focused on Southeast Asia.
Gokongwei Brothers Foundation invests in Filipino-Chinese youth’s potential

Driven by the common belief on the value of education, the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) and the Liong Tek Go Family Association recently launched a new scholarship program.
The GBF-Go Family Association College Scholarship Program aims to provide financial assistance to high-potential members of the Go family who are in need of support to continue their college education. The joint program was developed through the initiative of Elizabeth Gokongwei, GBF board of trustees member and wife of founder and chairman, John Gokongwei Jr.
The first batch of scholars is composed of six students studying in top Philippines universities — University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University.
“Gokongwei Brothers Foundation is happy to welcome these new members our community of scholars who exhibit excellence in their chosen courses, majority in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields. On behalf of Elizabeth Gokongwei and GBF’s board of trustees, we look forward to strengthening this partnership with the Liong Tek Go Family Association to help more deserving students gain access to quality education. We look forward to seeing these bright students contribute to their families and to nation-building after graduation,” GBF executive director Grace Colet said.

The prestigious international awards program is conducted in cooperation with the World Federation of Human Resources Professionals, chief marketing officer Asia, chief human resources officer Asia.
Last August, PAL express was also included in the Philippines Best Employer Brand Awards by the same award-giving body, because of the airline’s successful efforts to combine vision with action in the execution of HR strategy, by cultivating competencies vital for a “future-ready” company and initiating effective Employee Benefits and Employee Engagement programs.

Caroussel, Go Negosyo as economic inclution partners
