UP’s Perasol to appeal suspension

Following the UAAP’s decision to suspend University of the Philippines (UP) coach Bo Perasol after the head coach’s outburst against the Ateneo de Manila University in their last game of the first round on Sunday afternoon, the embattled coach is keen on appealing the UAAP’s verdict.

In a statement, Perasol said that the three-game suspension meted to him is too much, noting that the tournament is already in its critical stage since it’s already going into the second round.

“To appeal this decision is the most rational action to do,” said Perasol, adding that they are also planning to send the appeal to the UAAP as soon as possible.

To recall, Perasol charged at a referee with 6:23 left in the third quarter, following a perceived non-call on Ateneo’s Ange Kouame who had defended a lay-up from Jerson Prado.

The UP head coach was given two technical fouls and thrown out, but still needed to be restrained by his players as he continued to confront the game official, which prompted the UAAP to add two games to his sanction due to Perasol’s “continuous flagrant acts of aggression.”
