PCOO chief feted as most effective communicator

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar added another feather to his cap as he was awarded “Most Effective Communicator” by the Philippine Cancer Society Inc. (PCSI) during its charity event in Parañaque City.

The PCSI – whose advocacy is to prevent the development of cancer, especially among the disadvantaged families and individuals, through education, service and research programs – acclaimed Andanar’s efforts in the PCOO.

In his speech, Andanar expressed his gratitude to the non-profit organization for recognizing the work of the PCOO.

“I deeply appreciate the award given to me by the Philippine Cancer Society. But you know this award, the symbol and the importance of this is really what we can do to help cancer patients in our country. The Philippine Cancer Society has been in the advocacy of helping cancer patients especially those patients who cannot afford medicine and cure,” Andanar said.

“Thank you so much to the Philippine Cancer Society for recognizing my hard work and my commitment to spread the word that this society is a good society and it has a noble cause of helping cancer patients, and I will do everything I can within my powers and whatever influence I have to further the cause of the Philippine Cancer Society,” he added.

To recall the PCSI in 2017 also recognized Andanar as among the “men of extraordinary influence.”

“They never failed to recognize to appreciate our work at PCOO. It is not about me. I believe that our good work at the PCOO is a reflection of the hard work of the people of the PCOO. My lieutenants, my staff, and everybody who has put so much effort, dedication, and hard work to the government for the sake of nation-building and public service,” Andanar said.

Andanar received the special award during the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines, 17th Annual Awards Ball — a fund-raising activity of the PCSI — held at the Okada Manila.
