‘Onyok’ enters PAR

A tropical depression brewing off the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has intensified into a tropical depression and was given the local name “Onyok.”

Onyok was last seen 1,100 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 4 a.m. on Saturday. It is packing maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph and is moving northwest at 30 kph.

It is not expected to make landfall but will develop into a tropical storm within 24 hours.

Its extension will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
