More tourists can soon explore the wonders of Dariuk Hills in Barangay Balintocatoc, Santiago City, Isabela as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) nears completion of the 970 meter access road leading to the tourist destination.

The road is 75.23 percent complete and can be finished by deadline in October, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said Friday.

“Aside from boosting tourism and economy in Isabela, the project also intends to provide driving convenience through safe and durable roadways,” Villar said.

Often visited during the Holy Week, Dariuk Hills offers a place of pilgrimage where life-sized Stations of the Cross are placed from the foot of the hill, leading to the chapel, the Church of Transfiguration, which is located at the top.

The P37 million road project, funded under the DPWH 2018 Regular Infrastructure Program, also involves construction of sidewalk and slope protection.
