Suspect in Manila City Hall employee slay surrenders

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso late Tuesday night presented the suspect who allegedly murdered his wife — a Manila City Hall employee — with a hammer.

In a statement, Domagoso said that the suspect — identified as Roderick Capulong — surrendered peacefully after the Manila mayor and police officers went to the home of the suspect’s relatives in Molino, Cavite.

“He surrendered peacefully,” said Domagoso.

The Manila mayor also noted that the suspect said that he is sorry for the unfortunate incident, adding that Capulong admitted to the slay of his wife — Concepcion Capulong, a member of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB).

To recall, the city hall employee was hammered to death by the father of her two children.

Detective Jansen Rey San Pedro said initial investigations showed Capulong arrived at the victim’s house which he used to share with their children.

The victim bore hammer wounds to the head. Her lifeless body was discovered by her 16-year-old daughter who informed an aunt, Margaret Bansoco, of Romero’s fate.

Bansoco rushed the victim to the Tondo Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Gian Carlo Rabago by 4:30 a.m.

According to a witness, the suspect kissed his two children with the victim upon arriving in the house. She then tried to persuade Romero to allow him back to no avail.

In anger, Capulong reportedly grabbed a hammer and repeatedly banged the victim’s head with it.
