Sextortion suspect arrested in Samar

A laborer was arrested in an entrapment operation inside a resort in Basey, Samar for allegedly blackmailing a woman in exchange for sex.

Ryan Dableo Clondrina, 29, a laborer and a resident of Barangay Buscada was arrested by joint operatives from the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit of Police Regional Office (PRO) 8, Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and the Basey Municipal Police Station.

According to a report of PRO-8, the arrest was made based on a complaint of a victim that the suspect threatened her that he would post her nude photos and videos on social media should she refuse to marry him and meet him for sex.

It also noted that the suspect was using a dummy account in blackmailing the victim.

Clondrina was charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 9995 (Anti Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) Article 283 of the Revised Penal Code and Fraud and Sexual Exploitation in relation to RA 10175 (Anti-Cybercrime Act of 2012).

Eastern Visayas Police Director Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos praised the operatives for the successful arrest of the suspect.

“This successful operation of our operatives clearly manifests that PRO8 is indeed active and serious in keeping its pace against cyber-related crimes,” Carlos said in a statement.
