Iloilo district hospital gets DOH Star Award

For upholding quality healthcare for the people, the Aleosan District Hospital (ADH) in Alimodian, Iloilo became one of the recipients of this year’s Department of Health 30 Stars Awards.

The award was received by the hospital officials at Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City on 17 September.

The DOH 30 Star Awards gives recognition to 10 Level I hospitals, in which ADH is categorized; 10 Level II hospitals; and 10 Level III hospitals or a total of 30 hospitals nationwide.

Dr. Paz Calopiz, hospital chief of ADH, said in an interview Monday, the hospital has received the award for the second time.

“Last year, we were also an awardee but this year we were nominated anew by the DOH in Region 6,” she said.

The ADH took pride in being the only hospital in Western Visayas to be given the recognition.

“We were adjudged among the public and private hospitals in the country. Parameters for this award are infection control program, service provisions, quality improvement in the hospital, social responsibility and other activities wherein we adopt to the villages, patient satisfaction survey and employees’ satisfaction survey, and waste management (program),” Calopiz said.

Last year, Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial Hospital (DRYLMH) in Lambunao also got the award.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, has commended ADH for the pride it brought to the province.

“Congratulations to the Aleosan District Hospital for the hospital Star Award 2019. This award inspires us to do better,” Defensor said.

The governor also reminded employees at the Iloilo provincial government to uphold his basic standing order, which is cleanliness, order, and functionality.

“There are three very simple things we want to follow. Number one is cleanliness that we maintain our surroundings clean. Then we have an appropriate process on our work, and also ensure that functionality of the facilities in the provincial government,” he said.
