DoLE seeks OSHS law revision

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III is eyeing for possible revision of the Occupational Safety and Health Standardization (OSHS) law specifically for the television and movie industry.

According to Bello, he had discussed with actors Rez Cortez and Boots Anson-Roa who agreed to meet again to talk about the possible changes for the improvement of the OSHS law, which was raised in question following veteran actor Eddie Garcia’s death during a taping on set.

“We have set a date that we will meet with them, the television and movie industry, so we will revisit our implementing rules and regulations,” said Bello.

“This might require some revisions on specific industries like the TV and movie industries,” he added.

Meanwhile, the long-time partner of the late actor Garcia vowed to push for a law that would guarantee the safety of actors and workers in the entertainment industry.
