BI nabs German pedophile in Ozamiz City

A 71-year-old convicted German pedophile wanted in his country for various criminal sex offenses was arrested by authorities over the weekend, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday.

According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, Alfons Hermann Keittl was arrested on 19 September in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit.

“Keittl’s deportation was sought by the German embassy in Manila which informed the BI about an arrest warrant that a local court in the town of Landshut, Germany issued against the fugitive last July,” Morente said in a statement.

Keittl was convicted of committing aggravated child abuse against three different victims and, in more than 200 other cases, he was found to have possessed hundreds of child pornographic images and videos, according to the German Embassy.

Authorities confiscated from Keittl’s possession a total of 190 child pornography images, 112 child pornography videos, 28 adolescent pornography images and 10 adolescent pornography videos.

The German national also allegedly violated the conditions of his probation by disobeying a court order for him not to come within 100 meters of schools, swimming pools and other facilities frequented by children.

Morente said BI has already processed the foreigner’s deportation and included his name in the country’s blacklist.

“We will deport him immediately as his presence here poses a serious threat to the lives and safety of our Filipino children. To ensure that he does not return, we will put him in our blacklist,” he said.
