PMA identifies hazing suspects

The remains of PMA Cadet 4th Class Darwin Dormitorio, a hazing victim, arrive at Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental on Saturday.

Three suspects are under investigation for their involvement in the death of Philippine Military Academy cadet Darwin Dormitorio.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines have confirmed hazing-related injuries killed the 20-year-old Dormitorio, the youngest of three children and whose father was also a PMA alumni.

“Cardiac arrest secondary to internal hemorrhage” was stated in the PMA report as the plebe’s cause of death.

AFP spokesman Edgar Arevallo said two other fourth class cadets were hospitalized but are recovering now.

Criminal cases will be filed in Baguio City on Monday against the suspects, reportedly PMA officers.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo also called for the resignation of PMA superintendent Lt. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista, calling his leadership a weak one.

Dormitorio’s remains were taken back to his native Cagayan de Oro on Saturday.
