Diaz grabs 2 bronze medals

Hidilyn Diaz’s bid to book a return flight to the Olympics remains on track after clinching two bronze medals in the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships late Friday in Pattaya, Thailand.

Diaz, the silver medalist in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016, registered 121 kilograms in clean and jerk to claim the bronze medal.

Then, she tallied a total lift of 214 kilograms to collect another bronze medal in the women’s 55-kilogram division.

She, however, managed to lift only 93 kilograms to finish eighth in snatch, leaving Liao Quiyun of China running away with the gold medal with a total lift of 227 kilograms.
