‘Nimfa’ exits but rains to continue

Severe Tropical Storm Nimfa has left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) but rains will continue over parts of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) on Saturday.

In its severe weather bulletin issued at 5 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Nimfa” (international name “Tapah”), has slightly intensified but left the PAR at 2 a.m.

It was estimated at 704 kms. northeast of Basco, Batanes at 4 a.m., moving north-northwest at 25 kph.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

On the other hand, the Visayas and Mindanao will have partly to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said sea travel will be risky, especially to small sea craft, as winds in Luzon will be moderate to strong and headed west to southwest, bringing moderate to rough waves at heights of 1.2 meters to 4 meters.

The Visayas and Mindanao will have moderate to strong winds going southwest, which will bring moderate to rough waves reaching lesser heights of 1.2 meters to 2.8 meters.

The temperature in Metro Manila will be about 24°C to 30°C; Tuguegarao City at 24°C to 31°C; Tagaytay City at 23°C to 28°C; Legazpi City at 26°C to 32°C; Puerto Princesa City at 25°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu at 25°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao at 25°C to 32°C.
