UST grad tops physician licensure exam

University of Santo Tomas graduate Federico Peralta IV topped the Physician Licensure examination with a grade of 90.92 while two of his fellow Thomasians joined him in the top 10.

Ray Perez II of the Cebu Institute of Medicine was second at 90.33 and Rowel Calvin Razon of Angeles University Foundation third with 90.25.

Another AUF graduate, Judea Gonzales, shared fourth spot with Far Eastern University’s Vien Christian Lansangan and University of the Philippines Manila’s Joseph Alexander Paguio at 89.75.

UST’s Eugene Richard Yap landed fifth with 89.50 and Patricia Monique Torres placed joint ninth with 89.08.

All but three of 433 UST examinees hurdled the exam for a second-best passing percentage of 99.31.

Ateneo Pasig (133), CIM (107) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (123) posted 100% passing rates.

“What an honor, batch 2018, that you let our legacy live on. Here’s to another victory, another triumph of many more to come!” the UST Medicine Student Council posted on Facebook. “Congratulations, doctors! We are looking forward to all the great things you will be living out.”

Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva also lauded Peralta, who hails from the Bulacan town and is the son of doctors.

“Amid the rainy weather, we received the news that a Bocaueño was Number 1 in the 2019 Physician Licensure Examination! Congratulations, Dr. Federico Adriano Peralta IV! Bocaue is very proud of you!” Villanueva wrote.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said 4,006 out of 4,716 passed the licensure examination given by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao this month.
