Boy with unlicensed gun detained

A 13-year-old boy was taken into police custody for possessing an unlicensed firearm in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro Saturday night.

The teenager identified only as “Yong” was detained at the Calapan City Police Station after he was collared in Barangay Ilaya around 9:30 p.m.

Prior to the suspect’s arrest, the owner of Bicolana Restaurant in the village apparently saw him carrying the short firearm and reported it to the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team.

The team then invited the teenager to the barangay outpost where they saw and confiscated the .22 Magnum revolver (Comanche Chief) with Serial No. CM-105981 and 10 pieces of live ammunition.

Personnel of the Calapan City Police Station (CCPS) were dispatched to verify the illegal gun report leading to the teenager’s detention.

The CCPS will turn over the boy to the City Social Worker Department while taking into custody the gun for proper disposition.
