Silver-tinged and style-wise
Plains and Prints, brainchild of the Farillas family, recently celebrated its silver anniversary by bringing together some of the local fashion industry’s biggest names for a one-of-a-kind collaboration
SOME of fashion’s most recognizable names took part in a one-of-a-kind collaboration.
What started off as a simple family business at Shoppesville in Greenhills 25 years ago grew to be one of the leading fashion retail brands in the country today. Time may have passed but this brand has remained true to its goal of providing elegant, classic and timeless pieces for Filipinos.
Plains and Prints, the brainchild of the Farillas family, recently celebrated its silver anniversary by bringing together some of the local fashion industry’s biggest names for a one-of-a-kind collaboration.
Referred to as “Beyond 25,” the anniversary collection features designs from Anthony Ramirez, Mark Bumgarner, Charina Sarte, Cheetah Rivera, Martin Bautista, Amina Aranaz, Maureen Disini, Rajo Laurel, Randy Ortiz, Vania Romoff, Rhett Eala, Patty Ang, Rosanna Ocampo and photographers Mark Nicdao and Wig Tysman.
“Well, definitely, we’re very honored. Just a few designers were chosen and to collaborate with all of them — these people with great minds — is an amazing feeling. Second are the owners; you know Roxanne and her amazing journey. Everyone of us has their story and hers was 25 years — it’s really amazing,” Patty Ang said.
The process has been quite easy for Mark Bumgarner, on the other hand. He first collaborated with Plains and Prints back in 2017 featuring Anne Curtis Smith for a red carpet aesthetic line.
He said, “Of course I feel honored to be part of this group. This is my second time and it has been so easy. It was very smooth because I got along well with their design team. It’s easy to work with professionals. I mean, it’s only two outfits and I was done in a day.”
Plains and Prints’ previous collaborations included Vania Romoff, Mattel for Barbie and Happy Skin to attract a much younger and wider audience.
“I think, for us designers, they gave us the freedom, they didn’t tell us what to do. They trusted us with everything, from the fabrics, the design and the shoot itself. They trusted our own aesthetics which appealed to different people. All of us hitting different markets is also amazing,” Ang mused.
“No brand in the Philippines has ever done anything like this — putting together designers who are in different age groups but different fields in some way. It shows you how they are experienced with the 25 years, how they are always ahead when it comes to the local retailers. They do everything in-house; they develop everything so it’s kind of easy for them to pull us together and have us create things that we want. We just provided them with our samples and designs. Of course they have to make it ready to wear,” Mark added.
The “Beyond 25” collection is available online on Amazon.com, Zalora.com and PlainsAndPrints.com and in all Plains & Prints branches nationwide.
