Ex-Pangasinan governor badly wounded after ambush

Former Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino Jr. evaded the jaws of death on Wednesday afternoon after unidentified armed men fired shots on his vehicle, injuring the former governor while killing two of his aides.

Initial reports from the Police Regional Office 1 revealed that Espino was on board his vehicle when he was shot by a still unidentified suspect in Barangay Magtaking, San Carlos City, Pangasinan at 4:30 p.m.

Espino, who’s also a former congressman, sustained injuries and was brought to the Blessed Family Doctors Hospital in the city.

“Personnel of San Carlos CPS are now conducting dragnet operation for the possible identification and arrest of the suspect/s. Investigation still ongoing,” said the report.

The San Carlos Police station launched a dragnet in the province in a bid to capture the perpetrators.
