SEAG equipment ready

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez yesterday raised concern over the procurement of equipment needed for the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, but he assured the sports associations that the agency and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) will work harder to meet their requirements.

“The PSC and the POC, through Cavite Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino have taken steps to ensure that the national sports associations (NSA) will have their equipment ready for the hosting of the SEA Games,” Ramirez said.

Ramirez, who is also the country’s Chief of Mission to the biennial Games, and POC chief Tolentino have worked out the mechanisms that assured the sports associations of meeting the technical requirements to ensure the success of the event.

According to Tolentino, the POC will now be in charge of procuring the equipment to be identified by the NSA based on the requirements set by their respective Asian and International Federations.

“These equipment will be based on the requests of the NSA. The Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) will inform us of the requirement based on the NSA requests to the PSC, which will provide the financial assistance for their purchase,” Tolentino said.
