Twin storms enter

Two tropical depressions entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on the first day of September.

TD “Kabayan” formed at 2 a.m. on Sunday but exited four hours later.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area (LPA) brewing off Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, has developed into TD “Liwayway” at 8 a.m.

Liwayway was last seen 405 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan at 10 a.m., packing maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 55 kph while moving northwest at 20 kph.

Liwayway is not expected to make landfall but its trough will bring scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rain showers over the Caraga and Davao regions.

Scattered light to moderate and, at times, heavy monsoon rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos region, Zambales, Bataan, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas.

Kabayan and Liwayway are the 11th and 12th tropical cyclones to enter the Philippines this year.
