One dead in Rizal shootout

Authorities on Tuesday reported that an alleged snatcher was killed while his cohort escaped following a shootout with policemen in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, Rizal province.

The alleged snatchers – who grabbed a woman’s cellphone inside a passenger jeepney – were met by police after pursuit operation against the suspects who rode a jeepney going to the direction of Taytay.

The lone fatality was only identified as Michael Nguso, while his companion is still unidentified.

Police said that they have received a complaint from a woman whose cellphone was snatched by the suspects while on board a passenger jeepney around 12:38 a.m. at Sitio El Dorado, Barangay San Jose.

The suspects alighted at Pinesville Subdivision in Barangay Dolores, Taytay and upon sensing the presence of lawmen, the suspects immediately drew their handguns and shot the policemen, who fired back which resulted to the instantaneous death of the suspect.

The slain suspect was previously arrested for robbery-hold up, while his cohort managed to escape by pretending to be a passenger and police are currently conducting follow up operations to arrest the other suspect who still remains at large.
