No extension on road-clearing deadline

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Eduardo Año will not extend the 60-day deadline given to local chief executives to clear Metro Manila roads of obstructions.

National Capital Region mayors will be sanctioned, probably with suspension, if they fail to adhere to the 29 September deadline.

“We will follow the process, have show cause order, we will let them explain and then file a case,” the said Año.

Año said 43.4 percent of major roads have been cleared.
