Australia, Turkey wallop Fiba foes

Matthew Dellavedova hit six three-pointers and finished with 24 points in leading Australia to a 108-92 romp over Canada Sunday in Group A of the Fiba Basketball World Cup qualifier in Dongguan, China.

Dellavedova wielded the dagger in the fourth quarter where he fired most of his treys in a 32-15 run by the Boomers from a nail-biter 77-76 contest at the end of the third quarter.

Backstopping Dellavedova were Chris Goulding with 16 points and Patty Mills with 15.

In other games, Turkey walloped Japan, 88-65, in Group E behind the 19 points of Ersan Ilyasova and Melih Mahmutoglu’s 17 in a game played in Shanghai. Brazil edged out New Zealand, 102-94, in Group F in Nanjing.
