PCG rescues 10 Chinese

Elements of the Philippine Coast Guard-Central Visayas (PCG-Central Visayas) on Thursday night rescued 10 Chinese tourists aboard a distressed motor boat off Bohol.

Lt. Junior Grade Michael Encina, spokesman of PCG-Central Visayas, identified those rescued as Belle Liu, 35, (female); Zhou Cian, 36, (male); Lu Yin, 36, (male); Li Xeng Ji, 33, (male); Zhang Qian, 33, (female); Liu Yu, 36, (male); Wu Si Liang, 30, (female); Sui Yu Cing, 28, (female); Cai Chung, 35, (male), and Ke Wei, 35 (male).

Report showed that the 10 Chinese tourists were aboard motor boat “Go Deep” on their way back to Panglao Island from Sumilon Island in Oslob, Cebu at around 7:15 p.m. when it encountered trouble.

“The Chinese tourists went on diving and tour in Sumilon Island and experienced difficulty in docking in Daorong in Panglao,” said Encina.

Encina said that the timely response of the Coast Guard elements resulted in the safe rescue of the tourists and those manning the boat, led by Anthony Lariosa.

The 10 were all in good condition after the rescue operation that ended at around 10:30 p.m.

The Chinese tourists were checked in at Alona Beach in Barangay Talawa, Panglao.
