Trillanes charged with kidnapping

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) filed kidnapping with serious illegal detention charges against ex-Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, lawyer Jude Sabio and Fr. Albert Alejo for the alleged abduction of Davao businesswoman Guillermina Lalic Barrido.

Filed on 15 August, the charges were formalized after the PNP-CIDG provided Barrido with security.

On 5 April 2017, Barrido who claimed to be a former supporter of the Liberal Party held a press conference in Davao City where she accused Trillanes and other figures of bribing her to link President Duterte to the illegal drugs trade.

She also claimed she was kidnapped on 6 to 21 December 2016 and was allegedly forced to sign an affidavit to “destroy” the reputation of President Duterte.
