Saints make playoffs

BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Claire survived the monster performance of Henry Iloka to outlast McDavid La Salle Araneta, 112-100, in the Philippine Basketball Association D-League Foundation Cup at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Iloka had a massive performance of 32 points, 28 rebounds and six blocks, but it was not enough as the Saints banked on their balanced attack to foil the Stallions and book a spot in the playoffs with a 4-0 card in Group B.

Joshua Fontanilla led the assault with 24 points on 3-of-7 shooting from the rainbow area on top of six assists and three steals while Irven Palencia chipped in 14 markers on 63 percent shooting from the field.

“The team wants to make baskets individually. So I told them during halftime that they should treat everything as a challenge despite being the more superior team, “ BRT Sumisip Basilan-St Claire head Coach Stevenson Tiu said.

BRT Sumisip Basilan St. Claire forced the McDavid La Salle Araneta to commit 25 turnovers and converted 29 points while dishing out a total of 20 assists.

BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Claire will join Technological Institute of the Philippines and Centro Escolar University as the first three teams to secure their spots in the playoffs.
