Suspect shot after fleeing cops

A drug suspect was wounded by police officers in a shootout Saturday afternoon in Pasay City.

The suspect, Manny Sumalinog y Atison, 35, of 107A Estrella Street, Barangay 14, Pasay City attempted to escape arrest during a buy-bust operation after he noticed he was transacting with a poseur-buyer.

He ran back into his house up to the third floor, before climbing up to the roof of his neighbor’s house. After finding himself cornered, he fired at the pursuing lawmen who were about to catch him. The police returned fire and shot him on the shoulder.

Pasay City police brought Sumalinog to the Pasay General Hospital where he received treatment.

Seized from the suspect were three sachets of suspected shabu recovered from his house and the .45-caliber firearm he was carrying.
