DILG to mayors: Clear roads

Following President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive in his fourth State of the Nation address, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave Metro Manila mayors 45 days to clear its roads.

DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing relayed the directive of Sec. Eduardo Año during the first meeting of the Metro Manila Mayors Council (MMMC) on Thursday.

“SILG [DILG Secretary] wants you [city mayors] to clear roads within 45 days. Submit your operations plan to DILG,” Densing said.

Mayors and barangay officials who will fail to comply with the directive will be slapped with negligence of duty and suspension.

Road auditing will include the removal of illegal vendors, illegal structures and illegal parking.

Mayors from Manila, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Malabon, Pasig, Pasay, Quezon City and Malabon were among those who attended the meeting.
