Long queue no more

Frequent passengers have so much to say about the hassles of traveling at Manila airports where, unfortunately, one may have to endure congested lobbies, confusing check-in lines and immigration queues.

They can come here with enough time, get their boarding passes and spend some time having fun using the facilities of Resorts World Manila

As the government works to meet the ever-growing demands of the industry with new airports and terminals being built, Resorts World Manila (RWM) together with Cebu Pacific has stepped in to do its part in improving the tourist experience where it can.

Located at the ground floor of the RWM’s Newport Mall, Cebu Pacific passengers now have the option to check-in for their flights during mall hours at the newly opened RWM’s Traveler’s Lounge.

This facility caters to passengers of flights departing from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. However, those with check-in bags still need to proceed to bag drop counters at the airport.

“It’s a great opportunity for the passengers who want to avoid queuing at the airport. They can come here with enough time, get their boarding passes and spend some time having fun using the facilities of Resorts World Manila. It’s a much more relaxing and pleasant experience than rushing to the airport and joining the queues,” said Javier Massot, vice president for Airport Services at Cebu Pacific.

This addition to the RWM property not only helps to decongest Terminal 3, but is also for the guests staying at either one of the 3,500 hotel rooms or 6,000 condo units of the Newport complex.

Many of those are actually coming from the airport or are simply waiting for their loved ones to arrive. This lounge actually caters to all of them,” Stephen Reilly, RWM chief operating officer, said.

Real-time flight status digital boards are situated at the lounge. Free shuttle vans are available to take passengers from the Newport Mall and RWM hotels to Runway Manila where passengers can walk in comfort into the airport.

“Unfortunately, traffic and demand happens anywhere in the world. It grows very rapidly, the infrastructure can’t always cope with the speed of the demand all the time. We all together have to work to make better use of the infrastructure,” Massott added.

Before 2018 ended, RWM opened the Sheraton Hotel and early this year, the Hilton Hotel. These will soon be followed by the Okura Hotel from Japan, set to open its doors in the second quarter of the year.

Meanwhile, Maxims Hotel will be rebranded to make way for the first-ever Ritz Carlton Hotel property in the country.

“We cater to everybody, the same as Cebu Pacific is to different classes of many sectors. It’s great for our guests, it’s great for Cebu Pacific and at the same time for NAIA Terminal 3 that gets very congested at certain times over peak periods like Chinese New Year and Christmas,” Reilly emphasized.

Feedback from passengers had so far been great, he added. “Number one, they were not expecting it. We want our guests to have a little bit more like when they stay in our hotel and watch our shows. It makes people come back.”

Now, guests have several convenient check-in options, including website, mobile app and now, the RWM’s Travelers Lounge, to get their boarding passes even before arriving at the airport.
