From ‘Ngiti’ to ‘Ligaya’

For 11 years, Ronnie Liang has been celebrating his birthday with cancer patients from the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

His latest music video “Ligaya” is now out on YouTube and Myx. The video directed by Justin Santos, with creative direction by Floyd Tena and choreography by Christian Palma, has gotten good reviews from netizens after its release because of its millennial and K-pop influences. According to singer-actor Ronnie Liang, doing the music video allowed him to dance an unusual version of the song as popularized by Eraserheads.

“I love the choreography, like everyone can dance and can feel the vibe. Also, the meaning and the story of the song is still there. We just arranged it to fit the millennials’ taste. It’s a feel-good, but the story is there,” he said.

“Pinoy Dream Academy” alumnus Ronnie Liang. The youngest of seven children, Filipino-Chinese Liang remains thankful to the people who support him, his family, his manager and his loyal fans. For 11 years, he has been celebrating his birthday and sharing his blessings with cancer patients from the Philippine Children’s Medical Center. The Education degree holder became involved with children after he visited the center for the first time and saw their situation.

“I love helping kids. They always touch my heart. We gave toys and meals. We ate together and played with them. Also, I serenaded/rendered a song number for the kids, parents, nurses and some doctors of Philippine Children’s Medical Center,” he related. “I certainly consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in this world, which is why on my birthday, I don’t want to ask God for anything but thank Him for all the good things he has blessed me with over the years. Spending my birthday with the cancer-stricken kids is my way of reciprocating God’s goodness in my life and in my career.”

Catch the Pinoy Dream Academy alumnus as he sings his hits, from “Ngiti” to “Ligaya,” on 27 April in Dasmariñas, Cavite. He performs with Sarah Geronimo on 18 May in Baguio. His big night will be on 10 May as he takes the stage of New Frontier Theater in Araneta Center for his major concert. Liang is set to be part of the upcoming movie Maria starring Cristine Reyes under Viva Films.
