BI arrests US fugitive

The Department of Justice has directed the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to institute proper action against an American fugitive from justice who is hiding in the country.

Justice Undersecretary and spokesman Mark Perete revealed the Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Sections Unit has arrested Gary James Dukulil who is an undocumented alien.

Dukolil was arrested by BI agents around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, Perete said.

The arrest, according to Perete, was made pursuant to an official request from the Diplomatic Security Service- Overseas Criminal Investigations of the US Embassy in Manila.

The said American national has an outstanding warrant of arrest in his country and managed to slip into the country to evade arrest.

Dukolil’s warrant of arrest was issued by the Minnesota District Court on 17 January 2019 for distribution of child pornography.

Perete said the suspect was taken to the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila for proper documentation.

The suspect will then be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility for commitment.
