Baldo walks temporarily

The Regional Trial Court Branch 10 in Legazpi City on Tuesday allowed detained Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo to post bail for his illegal possession of firearms charges.

His counsel Lovensky Fernandez said the court set the bail at P3 million, which the mayor posted yesterday afternoon.

However, Baldo has yet to receive his release order and it is expected that he would still stay for few hours today inside jail before finally being released.

Baldo was arrested on 22 January after various guns and ammunition were found in his house during the serving of a search warrant.

His double murder and frustrated murder cases for allegedly masterminding the killing of AKO Bicol partylist Rodel Batocabe last year are pending at the Camarines Sur provincial prosecutor’s office.

Also recovered was a white Isuzu Alterra, which was the subject of the search warrant signed by Legazpi City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Elmer Lanuzo.
