Bong Go on billboard claim: ‘Baseless’

Senatorial candidate Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go brushed aside allegations Comelec regulation were violated by his camp on tri-media and outdoor advertisement placements.

The former Special Assistant to the President described the accusations as “malicious, baseless and legally irrelevant.”

He emphasized that his camp has not spent excessively before the campaign period and that most of the billboards and posters were the initiatives of his supporters.

He likened the billboards and posters to those promoting the program of the President, saying “the ads that came out before the campaign period were from supporters, without favor from President Duterte and his allies. I have no control over their own moves.”

Bong Go claimed that these accusations were made with the purpose of maligning him and the efforts of those supporting him, adding that based on Comelec rules, only amounts spent during the specified campaign period should be treated as campaign expense.

Bong Go reassured that the source/s of his campaign funds spent during the official campaign period will be declared in time.

Go emphasized that clean and honest elections have always been the trademark of the President even when he was still Mayor of Davao City and it will be the hallmark of this administration during its entire duration.
