Arms cache found in Maguindanao

An arms cache hidden in a comfort room in Maguindanao was discovered by the military troops during their clearing operations last Thursday.

The Army’s 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion discovered the arms cache in Barangay Buayan, Datu Piang around 7:30 a.m.

The recovered firearms were placed inside a vacant comfort room at the back of a barangay hall.

Concerned citizens had earlier reported the presence of an armed group believed to be members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) that prompted security forces to conduct clearing operation.

“The timely and accurate information provided by the concerned civilians led to the recovery of said valuable war materials,” 6ID Commander Major General Cirilito Sobejana said.

The arms cache include One M653 carbine, one M653 carbine COLT AR-15, one M203 40MM GL, one cal .45 pistol, one cal .38 pistol and assorted magazines and ammunition.

“We will sustain our commitment to ensure the safety and security of the people in Central Mindanao against the BIFF who sows terror and create fear in the community,” Sobejana said.
