Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go yesterday said he is confident the country would enjoy peace and progress under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Go cited the Duterte administration’s continuing implementation of the “Build, Build, Build” program for crucial infrastructures meant to spur economic progress in the country.

He also noted the conduct yesterday of the second phase of the plebiscite for the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law which is expected to bring lasting peace in Mindanao.

On Tuesday, Go greeted the Chinese-Filipinos and wished the country peace and prosperity as the country celebrated the Chinese New Year welcoming the year of the Pig

Also called as Chunjie or Spring Festival, the Lunar New Year is celebrated by more than 20 percent of humanity and considered as the most important holiday in China and to Chinese people all over the world.

“Let me greet our people, particularly our Filipino-Chinese brothers, a happy Chinese New Year,” Go said.

“As we usher in the Lunar New Year, I join you in the prayer for the realization of peace that we have longed for as well as progress for our country and the upliftment of the lives of our citizens,” he added.

Go, who is running for the Senate in this year’s midterm election, vowed to support the programs of President Duterte, particularly the campaign against illegal drugs, criminality and corruption.

His legislative agenda also includes programs for health, agriculture, education, housing, long-term sports development, fire protection and prevention, localized peace talks, creation of a Department of Overseas Filipino Worker, barangay welfare and improved benefits for senior citizens.
