Stronger Israel-PH ties seen

Israel reaffirmed its commitment to being a strong ally of the Philippines Friday as President Duterte met with Ambassador Radael Harpaz in Malacanang to discuss greater cooperation between the two countries.

Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, in a statement, said the envoy extended his country’s sympathy and condolences to the families of those who died in the twin bombings in Jolo, Sulu recently.

Harpaz likewise said terrorism and violent extremism must be defeated. He also reiterated Israel’s offer to help go after those who continue to sow terror.

Besides talking about safety and security, Harpaz reported to the President the ratification of agreements regarding the opening and improving opportunities for overseas Filipino workers in Israel, particularly for caregivers and those working in the hotel industry.

“It was such a positive development, a direct result of President Duterte’s historic visit to Israel (last year),” Panelo said.
