Makati seniors appeal for budget passage

Officers and members of senior citizen councils in various barangays of Makati have appealed to the Sangguniang Panlungsod to immediately approve the 2019 executive budget.

The elderlies of the city expressed their concern over the delay on their benefits and privileges arising from the non-passage of the budget.

The budget proposal has been pending with the City Council since its first reading on 24 October last year.

Members of the opposition bloc had been blamed for stalling the approval of the budget, resulting to non-implementation of city projects.

Rogelio Villamarin, chairman of the Barangay Council of Senior Citizens (BCSC) of Barangay Pembo, said senior citizens of Makati will surely be dismayed if their benefits were suspended because of the delay in budget approval.

Anita Bay, BCSC chairperson of Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, added that she and fellow senior citizens throughout Makati have been looking forward to enhanced benefits funded under the 2019 executive budget.
