P87-M Iloilo road project under way

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Friday said it is currently implementing P87.045-million road widening project, along intermittent sections of the Iloilo-Antique Road in the province of Iloilo.

Most of the improvement works are being done in the towns of Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miagao and San Joaquin.

DPWH-Iloilo First District Engineer Nonie A. Vivar said the 2.549-kilometer segment of the Iloilo-Antique Road will be widened from two lanes to four lanes.

“People from Southern Iloilo and a large number of motoring public from the province of Antique going to Iloilo will benefit from this project,” Vivar said.

The agency is advising motorists and commuters to be patient as the project might cause traffic in the affected areas.

The contractor has been instructed to ensure that project sites are manned by traffic aides and warning signs are installed at visible distances.

Meanwhile, the DPWH on Friday reported it is already more than a half-way done with the reconstruction of Ormoc City Grandstand in Leyte.

The DPWH 4th district engineering office said that works are being fast-tracked in time for the Eastern Visayas Athletic Association meet this coming 3-9 March 2019.
