National Planetarium reopens

The National Planetarium opens its doors once more to the public after undergoing renovation for one week.

The reopening was announced by the National Museum in its Facebook post on Tuesday.

“Please join us on our journey to the wonders of our Ethno astronomy, learning how planets and stars have guided us in sea navigation, agriculture, fishing and the right timing of celebrating life,” said the National Museum’s statement.

The Planetarium gallery is now practically brand new, with never-before-seen exhibitions on display and is open from 10 am to 5 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.

The exhibit admission is free but planetarium shows cost P50 for regular viewers, P30 for students with ID, and P40 for senior citizens and PWD.

The National Planetarium is 16 meters high and has a seating capacity of 310 and is equipped with a GM-15-S Goto starball projector acquired since 1975.

It features four daily regular shows and a permanent exhibit in the main building featuring paintings of Philippine astronomical myths and beliefs and diorama representations of the Solar System, major constellations and astronomists.
