Injured Almazan out indefinitely

Raymond Almazan’s return to Rain or Shine will be delayed due to a sprained ankle injury he suffered before his much-anticipated first game in the 44th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season.

The 6-foot-8 Elasto Painters center said he stepped on teammate Norbert Torres’ foot during practice earlier this week.

He will be forced him to sit out indefinitely.

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test revealed nothing serious but a sprain. Almazan said he is unsure of his return as it is still painful for him walk, run and jump.

“It’s not that serious,” Almazan who admitted spraining his left foot in the past. “But I can’t say a definite date yet as per my physical therapist (PT). There’s still pain. Let’s see in the coming days.”

Without Almazan, Rain or Shine still debuted with a rousing 96-87 win over NLEX in the PBA Philippine Cup late Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
