Lea Salonga breaks leg while skiing

Lea Salonga broke her leg while skiing in Japan with her husband, the actress-singer announced in a video posted Wednesday on her website and social media pages.

“I broke my leg on a slope. Clearly, I have not learned the art of stopping so I crashed pretty hard and I broke my tibia,” Salonga said on the video.

But the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award assured fans that she is fine and her upcoming concerts in Hong Kong and Singapore, both of which are already sold out, will push through.

“That doesn’t mean that the concerts aren’t pushing through. This is just to let you know I am okay, I can sing and I will see you in Hong Kong, in Singapore, in the UK sitting down more than I normally would,” she said.

Salonga added that she will only have to bring extra luggage referring to her crutches, which she showed on the video announcement.

Salonga will perform with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on 8 to 9 February 2019 and the Singapore Esplanade Concert Hall on 13 and 14 February 2019.

Lea and her husband Robert Charles Chien visited Japan to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary.
