Residents living near Tullahan River in Barangay North Fairview, Quezon City can now sleep soundly even during the rainy season after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of the nine-meter tall retaining wall in the area.

With its completion, the wall serve will serve as a protective barrier and save the residents living along the river bank from flooding.

DPWH- National Capital Region Director Melvin Navarro said the agency spent a total of P46.5 million for the 461-lineal meter structure built under rehabilitation and improvement of Tullahan River Phase II program.

“With the taller and sturdier concrete revetment along Tullahan River, residents near the area are now safe from the threats of inundation,” Navarro said.

Before the wall was constructed, only an old, dilapidated, three-meter grouted riprap serves as a defense of the residents from the raging waters during rainy days.
