Advocating animal well-being

A FUN photo opportunity for pets and their parents.

As a life science company, Bayer believes that animals in the care of humans should receive the best possible treatment. Improving the health and well-being of animals does not only mean developing innovative treatments and products, but also involves actively engaging various stakeholders to promote animal well-being.

By encouraging responsible pet ownership, animal owners and keepers are urged to ensure the well-being of animals in their care. It means more than just providing for existential and health needs of animals. It is about positive involvement to improve animal well-being, respecting animals’ need to manifest natural behavior and working towards strengthening the human-animal bond.

Bayer Animal Health promoted animal well-being through a series of pet friendly initiatives for the company’s employees and external partners.

Bayer Animal Health employees visited and volunteered at the Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Welfare Philippines shelter in Mandaluyong City. CARA Welfare Philippines is a non-profit, non-government organization that is run by a dedicated group of animal lovers determined to help the plight of animals in the Philippines.

Maria Soccoro “Corito” Mendoza, country division head of Animal Health said, “We are passionate about caring for animals and we treat them as an integral part of the community.

Through our animal well-being initiatives, we promote the advocacy and support organizations that share our passion for the overall health and well-being of animals.”

Another activity that the team joined was the Animal Kingdom Foundation Run Fur Life, held at Eton Centris, Quezon City. It was attended by over 800 humans and over 300 dogs. Bayer employees ran with their “fur-babies” as animal well-being advocates. After the run, a free Advantix spot-on drive was sponsored by Bayer.

Lastly, the company had The Bring Your Pets to Work Day, which was conducted in Bayer House, Canlubang, Laguna. In this activity, Bayer employees from the different business groups participated and brought their pets for a day of fun and one-of-a-kind bonding activity with their pets. Pets were treated to a pet wellness seminar, pet blessing, free grooming session and a photo opportunity for pets and pet parents.
