In his dreams

Even in his old age, Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria “Joma” Sison continues to hallucinate about a return to power he never even had, as his recent claim that the CPP’s “principal work” for 2019 is the ouster of President Duterte. In Joma’s hallucinatory state, despite his vow to prioritize the ouster of Duterte this year, he also announced that the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), the CPP’s political arm, is still “authorized to be open to peace negotiations” with the government.

Said he to the media that continue to humor him and his hallucinations: “The NDFP will further strengthen itself as the most consolidated realization of the national united front, but will be able to cooperate with all possible allies in the broad united front in order to isolate and oust the Duterte regime from power.”

“Duterte is not interested in serious peace negotiations to address the roots of the armed conflict and make comprehensive agreements on social, economic and political reforms in order to lay the basis for a just and lasting peace,” Sison said two days ago.

The NDFP is authorized to be open to peace negotiations with the current and prospective regime of the reactionary government but its principal work now is to work for the ouster of the Duterte regime.

Sison’s brains are clearly addled. Surely, as a supposed military commander, even of a ragtag army, he must know that one cannot announce that the principal goal of the commies is to oust a very popular President this year, even as he “authorized” the political arm to be open to peace negotiations with the Duterte government.

Sison expects peace talks with the Duterte government to go on while he threatens an ouster for the current President who has been elected by the Filipino people to serve until 2022? He has truly gone nuts.

Surely, if Sison were sane, he would realize that he and his ragtag army, which is the New People’s Army (NPA) that is composed mostly of extortionists, are no match for the Philippine military and the Philippine National Police. They would have been eradicated much earlier had these earlier peace talks been stopped immediately.

Before the peace talks, there were already many commie leaders in jail, but were released on conditional bail for the peace talks and for them to return to their cells afterwards.

They never did, but slowly, the military and police forces have been hunting them down and have been able to capture some of them who are now back in their cells.

Yet these commie jailbirds have the face to even claim that under the JASIG agreement, they are guaranteed safe conduct. What? Safe conduct even after peace talks are finally over, and worse, safe conduct for these commies who don’t honor the conditions of their temporary bail?

But in Sison’s Duterte plan — albeit hallucinatory — his ragtag army will finish off Duterte, after which he comes home like a returning hero with the yellows, the bishops, their priests and activist nuns and his aboveground commies, as well as the entire Filipino people, will be behind him and shouting their praises for the returning warrior.

Uh, Joma, the yellows are certainly not a force — and can hardly be one again, since the Filipino people have, to put it bluntly, vomited these hypocrites out.

As for the political clerics and the activist nuns, they will hardy accept a communist regime, although one can be sure that they will go along with even the commies in a Duterte ouster plan and disguise the move as yet another bogus people power, then attempt to take power for themselves.

Sison really should start facing reality because his NDFP and his above-ground commies certainly know that their communist movement is comatose, if not dead already, since their movement is a failure.

Sison has been calling for the ouster of Duterte ever since negotiations between the NDFP and the government were terminated by Duterte in November 2017.

Since then, the government has been pushing for localized peace talks with the communists.

Sison, in his statement, reiterated that Duterte “is not interested in serious peace negotiations to address the roots of the armed conflict.”

He chided Duterte for wanting the “impossible,” referring to the “surrender of the revolutionary movement of the people.”

Sison also stressed that the Duterte administration is not serious in negotiating peace with the communist group, saying it had abandoned its commitment to address the decades-long conflict, especially in achieving a just and lasting peace in the country.

And Sison plus his commies, in their dream of holding the reins of power at last, even think that they can achieve lasting peace in the country under a commie rule?

What a laugh! Even the military is laughing at Sison’s hallucinatory dream.
