‘Gunrunner’ killed

A 21-year-old man on police watchlist as a “gunrunner” was killed in a shootout with policemen during a buy-bust operation Monday in Muntinlupa City.

Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr., director of Southern Police District (SPD), identified the slain suspect as Angelo Garcia alias “Bunso.”

Garcia sustained several gunshot wounds which resulted in his instant death.

The slain suspect’s companion fled on board a motorcycle. He is now the subject of a police manhunt.

According to the police, Garcia drew his gun and fired at the authorities after sensing he was dealing with undercover cops who are trying to buy shabu from him.

Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered one .45 caliber pistol, four bullets, three sachets containing shabu and the buy-bust money from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, anti-drug operations of SPD in the last two days resulted in the apprehension of 62 suspects in the southern part of Metro Manila.

Apolinario said the Taguig City police reported the highest number of arrests within the period with 15 drug personalities collared.

The police forces in the cities of Pasay and Makati reported the arrest of 11 drug suspects each.

On the other hand, the Muntinlupa City police nabbed nine suspects while Parañaque City recorded eight arrests and Las Pinas City with seven.

A single drug suspect was caught in Pateros during the period.

Last Sunday the Taguig police also reported double-digit arrests of drug personalities, with 12 drug personalities nabbed in a single day of anti-crime operation.
