Fugitive killer nabbed

A man who stabbed to death his own cousin was finally arrested Wednesday night in Pasig City after nine years of hiding in Capiz.

Joselito Mayo was collared by San Juan City policemen headed by Senior Insp. Jerry Napagal around 9 p.m. in front of Mayfield Condominium in Barangay Rosario.

Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, San Juan City police chief, said Mayo’s arrest was based on the warrant issued by Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 262 Judge Leoncio Janolo Jr. for homicide.

Reyes said Mayo’s arrest ended the nine years of hiding of San Juan City’s sixth most wanted person.

According to court records, the accused repeatedly stabbed and killed his cousin Rodolfo Mayo on 16 September 2008 in Barangay Corazon, San Juan City.

Mayo allegedly harbored a personal grudge against his cousin for beating up the accused’s best friend after a heated argument during a drinking session.

After killing the victim, Mayo went into hiding in Aklan, Capiz where he lived with his relatives for several years.
