Apparel chain adding outlets in Mindanao

The Surplus branch in Davao City. (SM City Davao) DAVAO CITY — A fashion chain aims to have 60 stores by year-end with its expansion in Mindanao.

The management of Surplus is currently negotiating with investors to open another store in Davao City, said Aida dela Cruz, senior vice president for Vendor Relations, SM Retail, Inc., on Thursday.

“Around the country, there are already 57 stores and hopefully aims to close it to 60 stores by yearend. We target to increase the number to 70 next year,” dela Cruz said.

The chain already has two stores in Cagayan de Oro, and one each in General Santos City and Davao City all catering to mid and upper class customers.

Dela Cruz said sales of the stores in Mindanao remains robust, inspiring them to offer customers a new look on their products.

She described Surplus as a treasure store where one should be patient looking at different items.

“Our market is for those who know the brand and those who want items with quality yet at an affordable price,” she said, according to PNA.

Around 90 percent to 95 percent of clothing in Surplus are branded and everything is imported, said Dela Cruz.

She added that Surplus will not stop improving their offering so shoppers can continue to enjoy “mixing, matching, and layering great fashion finds at incredible savings.”
